I've been serching info since we decided to go to NF this year and I found this message board. I hoping you can help me with some questions.
We are driving in from the Hudson Valley NY. Looking for a good cheap room doesn't have to be anything with perks. I will most likley use Hotwire or Priceline as I always do when traveling. Any tips on what area to put in? Which would be the best side to look for Can. or NY? Where actually thinking of maybe a few days on each side.
Any do not miss things? I know about the Maid of the Mist but what else should we make sure we see or do? Any other budget ideas?
Any good websirte to search? Looking for some with good maps of the area. Anything else you can thing of to send my way.
I'm sure I'll have more questions as I search but looking for a good start for people who know the area.
Thanks
Judy

| Canadian side has much more to choose from when deciding lodging..... Lundy's Lane has many "cheap" hotels/motels to choose from. My wife and I travel there every year for our anniversary and find parking in the lots and taking the shuttle a worthwile investment. Make sure you go back the the NY side and walk Goat Island (well worth the parking fee) if you are in to nature walking. Maid of The Mist and Tablerock are definite stops.... watch out for Clifton Hill (tourist trap). Any other help I can be just ask.

Thanks for the tips. What's tabletop haven't heard of that yet? I think we will get the pass I've read about I think that's for the US side.
So far I know we want to do Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds or something like that? Goat Island sounds like something we would enjoy and we might stop at the Aquarium. I think these are all on the US sdie, is that correct?
Might take a day trip to Toronto. Read it's worth a day or so. We have a week vacation so a total of 9 days off from work and it takes us about 6 hours I think to drive there.
What is there to do on the Can. side? Just started searching. I'm thinking of maybe 2 days US side they 2 days on the Can. side. Depending what's there this could be including the day in Toronto or we could add another day. I just don't want to keep going back and forth across the boarder, once is enough.
Thanks
Judy

| I went there when a few years ago and went on a gondola of sorts over the river. Im not sure what its called but Tablerock rings a bell. Also, theres this elevator that takes you behind the waterfall and you can look out at it which is very cool. Be sure to check out the Skylon Tower-its cool at night or in the day....theres a restaurant at the top too. Enjoy!

Tablerock IS taking an elavator down behnd the horseshoe falls and walking a cavern to "portals" that cut behind the falls. The Spanish Areocar ride is a cablecar that takes you over the whirlpool which is about a mile down the gorge from the falls. There is also the Maid of the Mist boat ride. All of these "rides" can be found on the Canadian side.
