Booked a vacation there 2 months in advance.. Even called a few times to confirm our room.. All i heard was Yes Yes your confirmed..Upon arival my wife and i were told there were no rooms available, i said this was unacceptable.. Their words and i quote " take it or leave it " So we were taxied around waiting for an hour to get a room.. Wow they got us a room... Unlike our Ocean Front reservations at the Solmar, were were shoved into a room at another hotel with a nice view of a giant rock wall..Wasted three days sitting around taking taxis, waiting by the phone wondering if we were ever going to get the room we paid for in advance.. Solmar gladly took our money months in advance.. Most definatly, the employees at the Solmar did nothing to help us once we were there.. Rude, hostile, Be warned.. YOU WILL BE DISAPPONITED if you make reservations at the Solmar Suites...

[usa]We just spent a week in Cabo, was so disapointed upon arrival, it looks nothing like the pictures, it was a total culture shock. Then came the tropical storm so we were stuck in the suites for 2 days with nothing to do. We definately would not return to Mexico.

First, never pay over 50% in advance for anything.  Shame on you.  Second, for the response about never returning to Cabo (or Mexico for that matter)...July, August and September are terrible in Cabo...always have been...It's hurricane season!!  I've been going to Cabo for over 13 years (at least four times/year) and only once in July (this past July 4th), never in August or September.  The best time to go is mid to late October through mid June.

That's really too bad you had such a bad experience in Cabo.  I've been there 4 times this year (was just there this month) and absolutely loved being there each time.

We went to Cabo in May and stayed at Solmar and had a wonderful time. We will never stay anywhere else. The rooms were fine, the food was wonderful and the service was good.  My husband and son went fishing and the hotel cooked the fresh fish! We loved being removed somewhat from everyone else. Sorry you had such a bad time.

You must have had some bad luck at the Solmar. Sorry. I have been going there since 1985 and I think Cabo is the best. And yes I have had some trying times there also. The peninsula is a wonder place as a whole. I think you should try it again but next time go in late October thru June. Also remember this is Mexico not Maui.

I have been to Cabo twice, the introduction was on a trip supplied by my company and we stayed at the "Regina Resort" and we fell in love with it. We returned this last summer and again stayed at the Club Regina at the Regina Resort and again had a wonderful time. This time we rented a car at the airport and during our week travelled to to San Lucas del Cabo, San Jose, and Todos Santos.

We had a blast the resort is expensive but the town, people, shopping, beach, fishing, sightseeing, and the overall experience was awesome. Make sure you take a "daytime" drive to Todos Santos and pack a camera with plenty of film. The Pacific side has unbelievable ocean/desert views. Wear your seat belt, driving in Mexico is crazy but you will not regret the trip.

I would recommend it to anyone and we have reservations to return May 2007. You get what you pay for most of the time and again we have reservations to return. Check the internet for deals on timeshares and other hotel offers. That is where I bought one of ours. We have one at the Regina and the Hacienda Encantada that is currently under construction.

Don't drink the water just the Tequilla....
