If you plan to fish in Mazatlan heres a few tips that may help you. First off if you are fishing from shore you do not need a fishing Licence. Surf Fishing is not as popular in Mazatlan as other Mexican cities. An 8' rod or longer is perfect for most anglers on the rocks or beaches. I have had great success throwing stickbaits and spoons from the rocks on the northern end of the city. If you prefer to bait fish I would recomend Shrimp or Squid using #1 octupus hooks and at least a 4 oz. sinker. Sunrise and sunset are the optimum times, always look for surface action down the beach. GOOD LUCK!
