I am thinking about relocating down to Saint Thomas from Denver. I work in hotels right now and I would be looking for a similar job down there. I would be looking for everything from, car, renting a place (or roommates), ect. ANY information would be so grateful! :D

i lived in st. thomas for a year. had its great times and its bad. would i do it again. yes. but only with the right preparation. first rule: jimmy buffett isn't going to be playing guitar into the sunsets everynight. thats what i imagined. its real life down there with rush hour, k mart and home depot. if you want the perfect life in st thomas, your gonna have to be prepared to PAY. its all around expensive. housing, food, transportation, everything (except the rum, mon). if your looking for a job in the hotel business your most likely in luck. lots to do in the hospitality industry. check the "trader" (a local paper that lists everything from cars to jobs to apts. EVERYTHING.) but when i first moved there i found that the best way to find out about the things you need (ie. car, housing, etc) is to just ask everyone. and i mean everyone you meet. word travels fast on an island and if there is a nice car for sale, people know about it. also, check "secretarial services" in red hook. there is a post it board there with lots of apts for rent, boats and cars for sale. try to find a place on the east side of the island. you'll like it best. sapphire beach is great. you can walk to beach. best and safest place to live in my oppinion.

i will be in STT jan 29. i am considering opening a business there so keep in touch and let me know if there is any other questions that you have. i am sure i can help.

good luck!

Believe it or not, you are better off arranging something temporarily before your departure and then finalizing/searching once you are here.

I am planning on moving there in the coming months to run a sailing school. I've been in the BVI and St.Maarten for years- however -- st thomas is new to me...any additional advice? did you open your business?
