Cozumel Melia..
12 days....perfect weather...clean as a whistle..great water pressure in the showers..outstanding service...good food, very nice variety...
NO ONE..told us about the sand fleas....My partner had over 300 bites...the DOCTOR we finally saw..after self treating..explained this end of the island is marsh..lots of mosquitos...and is a problem..we asked the hotel to cover doctor costs since they chose not to notify us of the fleas..They said NO..
We spent a total on no more than 3 hours in a lounge chair on the beach directly in front of our room....My partner was coverd in bites...I had none...
Dr. Picolo in Cozumel..is great....but we will NEVER stay on that end of the island..and we have been to Cozumel..a dozen times....
CAREFUL....

Same here! Just got back last night after 10 days of misery. Have been to the island 8 other times and did know about sand fleas. So we didn't go onto the beach once. We stayed at the pool, and were covered with over 300 bites each! We've spent the last several days itching, rubbing, creaming, spraying..Doesn't matter. OFF doesn't work there.
Ruined a very nice holiday vacation. Won't go back!

Dear Mrs.
I am going to the hotel Melia in Mid February, can you tell me if this is a problem this time of year. And if so, can you recomend anything?
Thank you;
Norm

| What end of the island did you go to, we have never had a problem, we have been to Honduras, we herd sand fleas were bad, call Avon and ask what they have for sand fleas, I can't think of the name, but we took some to Honduras and kept it on us and never got one bite, so check this out. Sorry about that, but the diving is so good.

Thinking about staying at the Melia Cozumel. Don't know which end of the island it's at. Anybody know? or stay at this hotel?
Have had a sand flea experience before (elsewhere) and don't want to repeat. Thanks.

| I have stayed at the Melia 4 times andoly got bit on one of the trips. I have learned to take garlic pills a couple of weeks before you go and nothing will bit you!! It really does work. Everytime I travel to any beach area I always take them and I haven't had a bad experience yet.
