Hi! I'm from the US and I have also gotten this scam lotto letter. I see that I am not the only person who googled International Lotto commission to double check it was a scam and found this board.

It's basically the same letter as everyone elses. It was mailed from Canada and lists Michael Lucas as my "agent". I'm half tempted to call the listed number and give tyhem a peice of my mind...but I have a feeling it probably won't even be a real number.

My question is, did anyone here report this to their local/state officials? And if so, were you successful? I'd love to bust these losers. Too bad they think I'm an elderly person and not a well informed twenty-something. Thanks for reading! [allamerican]

Thanks! I figured that, but thought I'd ask anyway. I called the bank the check was issued from to see if they were aware of the fraud, they were. I guess thats all I can do. :-)

Ok, I got my letter yesterday in Florida.  My "agent" is also MICHAEL LUCAS and the bank that the check is drawn from is Harris Bank in Roselle, IL.  I called that bank and spoke to Maria who asked me to fax her a copy of all of the information that was sent to me because this is the 2nd time TODAY (saturday 9/22/07) that she got a call about this.  She wants to try to do something about this; get the story on the news or something...

She said that she will let me know on Monday if there is anything else that I can do to help people not be scammed by this...

Have fun

My eighty-year old neighbour in Greece received a letter from the international loto commission in Spain.  After reading these posts I realized that it's a scam!  Be careful my fellow Greeks!!  The poor woman! I translated the letter for her and she has already made plans how to use the money! It sounded too good to be true!!  It sounded so realistic that I even  fell for it!!! They used the name of the Diamond Security Company S.A. as the one which is holding the winnings.  I tried calling them but the line was out of order!!

Hi People,

I'm from Kenya East Africa and received the same scam letter from u know who.. thing is it was addressed to my Dad who passed away in Aug. '07.

Obviously when u receive the letter one is happy but remember guys no one ever gives u anything for free. I searched the net and came across u guys and I'm glad u took the time to post and warn others.

I'm sure trying to find out who the scam artists r would take long since they cover their tracks but spread the word coz unfortunately there r some innocent trusting peeps out there.

Adios

OKay so my mom recieved this in the mail and she was so excited and told me and at first i thought it was a scam and was like oooh what the hell, lets go with it. So today she sent it, the information and drivers license(and asked for certified check), to the company. And i went on to reasearch these people and found out its a SCAM!

so my questions is

What can they do with the information we sent them? Are we in danger?

please respond, its very important.

Sorry, didn't notice this one 'til now.

I'd need to know exactly what info you've sent in order to answer your question.  Generally, though, that start off by asking for pretty non-sensitive information (name, address, etc.) and then build up, as they reel you further and further into their scam, to asking for the really dangerous stuff, like Bank Account numbers, Social Security numbers, etc.

If you haven't sent them anything more than your mother's name, address, and drivers licence details, you're probably ok.  There's not a heck of a lot they can do with that (possibly apply for another drivers licence, I guess).

Best wishes,
