| I have just received my letter promising me money from a lotto that I have never participated in, hence I decided to investigate it and found this site. Many thanks to all the people who have posted as I now know this is a scam. I was very suspicious once I opened the letter as I have never purchased a lotto ticket and the quality of the letter is so poor that it could not possibly be legitimate.

We live in hull, england and have also recieved one of these scam letters stating that we have won €615,810.00 having not entered any lotto draws. It also asks for bank details as in other cases stated here on perspectives.
The quality of the letter printout is poor compared to official documentation; it looks like it was printed on a home computer so dont be fooled! I will take ours to the citizens advice bureau with envelope so at least they may be able to publicise this scam

This is a global problem but its mostly the mobile tel numbers that catch these individuals perpetrating this identity & financial theft. 'spammers' use 'pre-pay' mobile phones/fax #'s.. bogus email@. and believe they are impervious to detection. this is not the case.. the biggest problem that is working to the advantage for these spammers is the lack of police resources & manpower to combat this oldschool global criminal activity. contacting your police/local radio/local press/Internet communities, can be about the best any responsible person can do, to help reduce the potential victim rate within your local community.
The spammers who are running this identity theft & cash theft.. know & use the weakness of human nature & indiscriminately pick off the naive/old/poor/less informed & even mentally challenged people from all walks of life around our wwworld. 'your own personal vigilante' information action against these spammers attacking Hull will be.. "One small step for Hull..& One giant leap against Spam!"..

Hi. I just got a letter this morning (27/05/08) from the International Lotto Commission, apparently in Madrid, telling me that I'vw won $915,510. They're obviously improving - mine had my name at the top of the letter, and the name of my claims agent was Dr Edward Reyes of Grupo Tilos Security Company SA of Madrid. They are also now offering to send you a cheque, although the form still asks for your bank details.......
Thanks for the information on your site - I've now binned this letter.

Welcome to your confirmed 'perspective' dear Swiss,
It's 915,810.00% SPAM! & 100% indiscriminate identity/financial theft for those unaware of the magic 0034-6 number used by Spammers (pre-pay mobile) that also identifies this as a CLEAR deception scam.
Please spread your wisdom within your wwworld..
Kind regards..

This scam continues as I have just received a similar letter. Here we are in the middle of 2008 and it seems from your website that it has been continuing at least since early 2007. It is not clear if any spanish authorities have taken action. Does anyone know? Simon Joseph ![[uk]](/forums/themes/default/uk.gif)

To be safe.. Dear 'jmskom', go to your bank.. explain the problem, and change your account #. then you would be advised to change your passport.
My reason for offering this advise is due to the real chance that these spammers will attempt to use your identity for financial gain. by changing your passport/bank #, you leave these spammers open to capture due to them using 'out-dated' identity..
Kind regards..
Joe
PS: this identity/financial scam has been around in various forms for over a decade and the Spanish police have made arrests but are underfunded to take on the network of spammers carrying out this indiscriminate deception.

My wife have received a letter today 22/07/2008, saying that she won 815,510.00 Euro.
I have spotted straight away as scam trying to get hold of bank details with photo ID which then can use it to obtain goods over the internet.
Its so obvious. I phone the number on the letter and some one picked up the phone and sound from Africa, with lady talking to her kid on the background.
Definitely they are not from spain and not spanish as the letter look like done it on the normal PC printing home

Welcome spam2008, to Perspectives.com.. & Spain.com..
Unfortunately, not everyone is as forward thinking & informed as yourself. please pass your wisdom on.. 'Local radio' is a great outlet to warn your neighborhood that lotto spammers are active'..
And yes.. the number you called was a 'pre-pay' mobile phone # & the Afro-Spanish spammer you spoke with 'still thinks' that his 'pay as you go mobile phone' is not traceable in todays mobile S.I.M network technology.. this is a total fallacy.. the ultimate problem why this particular 'spammer' & thousands like him are able to continue to perpetrate this identity-financial theft scam.. is due to the underfunding & coordination of European police forces which will also include your local police station (Unless you have a family member or friend who has a friend within the force.. )
This is not just a Euro problem for fraud police units, this has become a globally generic issue.. so, these spammers are banking in on this unpleasant reality & naive & less informed/Pensioner/Poor/middle class & worst of all.. Mentally challenged people within our local community & wwworld will continue to become victims of these ruthless spammers..
Perspectives.com has become "one small step for man & one giant leap against spamkind!" I'm pleased you found us.. Mr 2008! I hope you translate your possible disgust & anger you might have that your dear wife & yourself were targeted.. into a positive contribution towards fighting this crime.. and that's the shared wisdom that 44,000+ viewers have also currently shared via this topic & who have also spread the warning that will ultimately save others.. Trust me..'Spammers'.. in the end.. they all float, ya know..![[eyeroll]](/forums/themes/default/sarcasm.gif)
Kind regards..

Hi All,
As an ex financial crime analyst, it appears pretty clear that this is one of many phishing scams that are being carried out.
The majority of these letters are sent out by Nigerian fraud rings and can be quite dangerous experiences. Usually they will ask you to send money, or meet them in person. If you meet them in person you risk being robbed, abducted or worse. If you send money they will keep trying to get you to send more but ultimately you will never see your money again (or any of the promised lotto win).
My advice is that you should discard any letter or email you have received and under no circumstances meet these people if you have already started the process.
If it seems to good to be true then it probably is.

Had my letter from the Lotto Commission today and had a look to see how long they have been doing the rounds. Over a year! Why do we keep getting this rubbish through our doors and on our computers. The answer to me is simple, people respond to them. The only way you will win is by entering a competition. This involves buying a ticket with your hard earned and the only information you are required to supply is your name, contact number and, sometimes, address (usually after your number comes up). If any further information is required then give it a wide berth. There is NO such thing as a free competition. These people are making money from you somehow whether it is a local fete (entrance fee but for a good cause) or timeshare companies (processing fee and flight to see it plus half a day being bullied by sells reps). If something looks too good to be true it is not a case of it probably is not, but definitely not.
