Hello Folks.. because of time differences between America & the pondside, (I'm in Holland) its always possible that the reply you require from myself will be a delayed response. so, please don't wait for Joe's answer if your personal intuition questions if you should take your four footer to your vet!!
"don't wait for Joe!..GO"
Rightwingnut: sounds like a hemorrhage to me.. Blue spots under the skin 'can' be blood trapped just under the skin. (a broken/trapped blood-vessel is normally to blame.) you were smart to take Liam to your vet. please let me know what they did/said. BlueGTO: Keep me updated please.
Cowboys up: "Welcome to Perspectives"! great to know your partner is taking good care of your four footers.. (PS: nice pic's) 'I hope over 2008, your partner will perhaps find time to also contribute her valuable knowledge towards this thread.. which is ultimately dedicated to animal welfare on a potentially global scale'. I have a 3 dogs and our newest is a little pug who weighs about 10 pounds.
Here's a pic when we first got her - she probably weighed 3 pounds here:

To give you an idea of how small she was:

Anyway, she's bigger now, but still very small compared to our 35 pound pug and 14 pound Papillion. She's cool, but she gets really wound up sometimes and attacks relentlessly. She doesn't bite or anything like that, but by the sound of it you would think she is rabid! Anyway, a couple of times when she got too crazy, my wife would pick her up and hold her in the air till she calmed down.
The weird part - when she'd get so upset and my wife would pick her up and hold her up in the air - a couple times she just went limp, seemingly passed out, and then peed all over. I've never seen her do that any other time. It's happened maybe 2 or 3 times. Freaked us out pretty good.

Cute.. OK.. loss of bladder control faculty's in a 'shock/fear' situation is very common. this quiet or lethargic behavior might be associated with what puppies/kittens do when picked up/carried by their necks but in this case in out stretched arms from a fearful height?.. your pug was already freaked out & hyper so its possible he over reacted to the added 'shock he received to his little system'. better refrain from this 'picking up' when he is Hyped out..

How is he? My husband was playing with Oliver once and the boy dove at the teaser toy and smacked into the wall at full speed face first. His nose doubled in size and we felt terrible. The emergency vet sent us home after looking at him without charging us...said even if his nose was broken there's nothing you can do about it. We both felt so terrible about it...especially since we had to leave the next day to fly to TN for Christmas!
Hope all is well with his first accident at your house. I'm neurotic about my boys, so I understand.
Lastnight when I talked to the vet tech they said he appeared fine, was playing with whoever opened his cage to check on him. I'm suppose to call at 9:30am but I think I'm just going to go up there.
Thank you for asking.

mine too! actually i'm thinking bull terrier. so weird looking they are cute.
thanks for the tip JP, even though it reminds me of that schtick - doctor, my arm hurts when i lift it up like this. doctor - then don't lift it up like that!
she's really a good dog. fierce, a bit crazy, a perfect fit here. she is getting really good about getting control of herself when we pick her up and tell her to calm down.

Oliver is fine today. He's eating like a little piggy and harassing our other cat non-stop. I can already tell he feels better and is already back to his loveable little self .
