Not really.
The whole trip will cost just under $2000 (the fact that I'm living with a relative there cuts down alot), and I've been working 45 hrs/week since the beginning of May to earn about that money.

Have fun on your trip!!!
P.S. A pretty expensive journey when i see the dollar/Euro exchange. Perhaps wait a year till the dollar healthens?
Once again, Russia isn't that expensive.
You're confusing Russia with Germany.
It's like confusing China with Japan...
Russia isn't even part of the EU. Russia uses Rubles as its currency, which is 27 times as week as the U.S. dollar!
Strey's confusion is understandable, as the little map you posted included German cities.
But thank you for posting the beautiful pictures of St. Petersburg, as they bring back precious memories of a trip I made to Moscow and St. Petersburg together with my mother in the early nineties.
P-SD (Greg?) I've been following you thread although I haven't posted until now. I really admire how hard you have worked to finance your travel without help from anyone else.
Last month, I was fortunate enough to leave the continent for the first time. My daughter and I went to London and Paris (4 days each). Like you, my daughter is bilingual in English/French. So, it was great listening to her converse with the Parisians. I really loved both cities, but perhaps I fell a little harder in love with Paris. Sure would like to return to England and France and see more of those countries.
Another place that I've always wanted to visit is St. Petersburg! But I don't know how I could possibly manage to find my way around without any knowledge of the language (spoken and written). Still, it is definitely on my Wish List!
Will you be able to login to P.com while you are there? It would be great to read a narrative of your visit.
Well, I left St. Petersburg and crossed the Russo-Finnish border a few days ago. Now winding up the trip with a bus-guided tour of the 4 Scandinavian capitals. God Dag from Lyngby, a harbor town close to Copenhagen, or Koebnhavn as the Danes like to put it.
Or "god eftermiddag", rather. Stockholm and Copenhagen both cast the impression of being medieval playgrounds, if you will... Full of old gothic history and architecture, but with the facade of refined modernity. Ill post pics in a week.
Despite the good memories from the visit, I was relieved to come back because I did feel quite foreign during the visit.. Understandable though: I'm a U.S. Citizen and have lived in the States since the age of 4, not least of which is the fact that I'm ethnically and religiously jewish, which still isn't hugely popular in Russia...
Wow! It seems you had a great summer vacation. My friend made a research on Hawaii volcano and here is her discovery.
The Hawaii Volcano National Park is one of the most impressive and memorable places in Hawaii. Here you will see the spectacular native rainforest, take pictures of the lava tube, and visit the memorable volcanic formations. You won't visit any other place in the world that contains the diversity of climates and geography like the Big Island
