I am staying at the Elysian Resort on St. Thomas in late July for my honeymoon. My parents recently stayed there and had a great time. Unfortunately, I have seen many poor reviews of the resorts cleanliness and unfriendly staff. If you have any comments/suggestions, please let me know.
Thank you.

hi- my wife and i stayed there for 5 days in early june, 2008. the resort is nice, nice pool and nice beach; not a big beach like Megan's bay; but nice & quiet. the restaurant staff is very friendly, the nightime bartender is great ( he may be taking a week ot 2 off in july he said). however the front desk staff act like it's a big imposition to help you. we were there on a time share swap so only 1 day of clean sheets and towels was included. we asked for it on day 3 but it didn't happen; when we called the front desk they said sorry - housekeeping is closed for the day (5pm). we'll try tomorrow. if you want to go to town you may need a car but there are good reastaurants in nearby hotels and you are close to the red hook ferries to st.john and the british virgins (passpaort need for the british) . have fun

Thanks for the information. Anything about flee bites in your room? I saw several reviews from people that they experienced lots of small bites (similar to flees)? Do you recommend any particular activies? We have reservations for the New Horizons all day sail boat/scuba, but not much else planned.
Thanks again.

hi- There were no flea bites in the room, but there were on the beach. the locals call them "no-see-ums" because they are very small and you don't see them. i didn't get bitten but my wife did. maybe women notice them more because they shave the hair off their legs . we rented a car for the stay, it is a bit expensive with gas but it alowed us to drive around the island (they drive on the left side of the road). if you don't get a car you can take a cab to the town of red hook which has ferries to st. john & british virgin and there are some grocery stors there. the food is more expensive there of course because of the cost of tranpotation but you can get things like ceral for breakfast, bottled water, and beer, wine or liquor. our room had a fridge so i think they all should.. we drove to megan's bay ($5.00 each)which is a beautiful beach. our last night there we went to a restaurant at a nearby hotel whicj was verry great. i don't remember the name (hyatt maybe) but i'll ask my wife and post it tomorrow. it will be the off season there so we had an early dinner about 6pm and we got a table which overlooked the surrounding islands and it was beautiful.
