Too bad I was not here before - my wife is Lithuanian and I have been there many times. If you want to interact with people - you could try speaking to them. Almost everyone in the larger cities speak English.
If you are a spiritual person you have to visit the Hill of Crosses... Its a drive from the airport in Riga or Vilnius but its worth it.
There are MANY Lithuanian message boards all over the net. go to http://www.google.lt and just type in English the type of board you are looking for (sports, family, social, singles) and you will find one. You might have to guess on some things but once you are in almost everyone will understand English.
