It hurts on a scale of 1-10.. =9.9 (painkillers or chronic displeasure eats you up)

Anyone else ever trapped a nerve?

Yes, I've had it once so far.. during my most inconvenient time, when I was traveling abroad, far from home.

It really does suck and hurt like bloody hell. For me, the pain lasted for several hours and only after 3 rounds of acetominophen did it get better.

And what triggered it for me, was stretching out my arms and back when I awoke that morning.. a nerve then snapped, and the pain immediately went wringing through my whole body for almost a day.. It was literally like being a temporary cripple, because not only was I in severe pain, but couldn't stand straight, let alone move my head and neck around.

Was your experience similar??

Nothing, however, beats the pain of a severe weekend hangover!

My best friend's boyfriend had it in his back and she was talking about a little machine called Transcutane Elektric Neuro Stimulation or TENS, which helped him with the pain.... maybe you can look it up somewhere..... good luck (pain sucks) and get well soon!

I had one in my elbow that lasted 6 months. It didn't hurt so much as left the pinky side of my hand in a constant state of numbness and an irritating ach in the elbow.

You're welcome... I believe you can rent them as well via Evean Zorg-winkels. And in some cases they are covered by insurrance, so maybe you can ask your doctor..

Good luck! [cheers]

Joe, are we talking sciatica, or wrist, or brachial nerve, or what?

i just read your post.

i'm pretty sure i can't help but i'll give it a shot.

Generally, anything that will minimize inflamation may help somewhat.  Ibuprofin.

And changing your daily postures could take pressure off the nerve too.  Don't sit in the same chair, or push yourself in any way for at least three months.  Avoid anything that hurts.  It looks silly but a walker might help in the short term.

i hope it's not stenosis, but there are new therapies even for that.

Have you checked on the traditional ways to reduce back pain with simple knee pulls and adjustments often performed on the floor?

Resist extreme measures until you've tried all the easy non-chemical ones.

Once a nerve is actually damaged it will take time to heal.

Need more info.

i'm not a doctor, but i really wish i could help.

Have you mentioned this to MB?  She's wise.

Anyone else ever trapped a nerve?

Backdated update: It turned out not to be a trapped nerve.. the result in fact became a quite shocking revelation!! CANCER!!

7mths & Chemo & Radiotherapy later, I'm almost in recovery mode but I still need surgery to remove whats left of the tumor..

I have nerve damage as well as just problems with them. Originally I began having nerve problems after farming then they became severe after an accident at work. I haven't really felt my right thigh for a few years now, it always feels like when your foot is asleep except when I try to sleep on my back or sit in certain positions then my thigh becomes really hot and I get terrible shooting pains. Since the accident my lower back is always in pain and sensitive to the touch. The doctors said a major nerve was pinched and there was damage that went down to my leg then after the accident I was having back spasms for a couple weeks. When it first happened they kept coming over and over again, I couldn't move without it happening so they gave me morphine but couldn't do a whole lot else.

It's not a pain you can get used to that's for sure. :?

well, you should as if you hadn't had that pain, when it was found might have been too late jp.  There is a positive here.

Your right I guess.. but when Joe B did not make it, I kind of felt it was inappropriate to enjoy my own good fortune.. perhaps next year..[usa]
