That's correct. At the taxanomic Class level, both are mammalia, but then again so are humans. Pandas and Red Pandas are taxanomically related at the higher Order level, both are classified as Carnivora.

Had two in my back yard the other night. No cats, coyote food... 5 people have come lookin since Nov..for lost kitties.... The wolf has several kills fair game in the yard( no not cats)... he is almost wild after all. And Canadian.....:P

Step off the concreat JL... if safe. You saw something in Kansas, I don't believe it...

I've seen birds fly upside down for something to look at because there is nothing in Kansas, not even Kansas City...any more. I've seen... I better be nice or someone from the sunflower state will get upset... Yet, from Custard Hill,, you can almost see both boarders.
[cool]

Great thread, and yes JL, the Red Panda is related to the Giant Panda... see Zoo (google)

Ha,Iactually live in a small city, and am an eagle scout so I have been camping numerous times, seen all sorts of animals in the wild, rattlers, oppossum, mule deer, bison, deer, mountain lions, so on and so forth. However the only time I ever saw a raccoon was in Kansas city in a dumpster.

Hmmm,I stand corrected on the red panda

Not as aggressive as other bears, though.

Pandas feed exclusively on bamboo, other bears include meat in their diet.
