You can only buy el gordo tickets a few weeks before Christmas , the other one ( the primitiva ) is a weekly lottery and you fill out your slips and buy it in the stores.

Interesting! I just got this letter from probably the same organization claiming that I won 960.000 euros.

I'm betting it's a fake coz I never bought any lottery before christmas and their letter - notifying me that I won
- warning me to keep it a secret incase of terrorist attacks
- and asking me to fill out a form with all my vital details

is printed on an ink-jet printer.

Very, very, VERY FISHY!!!

Anybody knows anything about this?

Max

I just got this letter too.  Mine says that I won 615 thousand american dollars and to keep it a secret incase of name and number mix up! It has ref no:EG/2551256003/01 and batch number 000750013. I am sure it's a scam because if you notice, your name is printed no where on the paper and they are asking for my bank account number! Total scam!!!

Be carefull this is a rip off. You are not the first victim. Don't give your bank information. Try to see other forums on this same subject.

I received their mail today and my first research on the net showed a large scale fraud.

Same is the case here.  Got the same kind of letter.  From the letter head you can tell its fake.  But the way, letter was written compelled me to check the internet.

Not surprised to see many other winners...  some of them have got more than mine.

Be very careful with any letters purporting to be from Elgorda Loteria Primitiva that you might receive saying you have won $615,810.00 in a lottery draw. This is a fraud.

I just received such a letter, and in checking on the Internet I find that a man in Thetford, England also won the same amount with exactly the same ticket number! Strangely, the drawing he supposedly won was on a different date than mine.

These clowns are just trying to get your bank account info so they can pull money out of your account.

Some giveaways: I have never played a Spanish lottery, I haven't played any lottery for five years, and I have never played the numbers given in the letter in any lottery.

Another clue is the fact that the letter gives a Madrid address, but the envelope has a Malaga cancellation.

I too got a similar letter from the same person, this time his title is "Forerign Operation Manager" asking me to provide bank details and sign a declaration that "I have never never received any payment ....

I did provide some of my bank details but did not sign the papers, I don't think anyone can access your account just because you know the bank account details. Debiting money from the account is more difficult than crediting.

If anyone esle have received similar mail, please be kind enough to let me know. My contact details are dsouzalouis@hotmail.com

I got a one too. Mine dated 18-02-2005. which says I have won the 3rd category with a sum of USD 615,810.00. Looks like a photo copy or a scan document. They are asking for my bank details. Lottery was held on 28th of January 2004.

For them this is the final notice to me, but also which happened to be my first.
