We have 10 of them, two of them are colts. They are truly wonderful and are very smart. I have been raised around horses. I was 5 when I road my first horse alone. When I was 9 I would pack a lunch and take off on what I always thought was adventures, and stay gone all day. My boys love them too.
I wish that I could have a camp where any kid could come and stay and have the time of their life, riding and fishing. It is really hard for those that cannot afford it, you know they would love it, I would do it for free. It's always been a dream for me.
What do you like about horses, or maybe you do not have one and would like to know more about them.

They were my favorite animals when I was little. I love horseback riding. I always tell the people how inexperienced I am so they give me a docile, obedient horse. My roommate in grad school would tell them how she grew up on a farm w/ horses and they always gave her a stubborn, spirited horse.

Even though I've ridden many horses, I still consider myself a novice b/c I've never ridden one full gallop or had one jump over a fence or ditch. They have always been lead tours.
My very experienced roommate says that when you are going full speed, it feels different (I forget how) and is easier on your thighs (or some other part of your body).
What is it like to go full gallop? Or to jump over things?

It feels like you are just glidding (when you are in a full gallop). It is fun.
When I use to ride everyday I didn't get sore, but if ya don't ride very much, yes you get sore, it doesn't matter, gallop or trot, you still get sore.
I have a friend that likes to jump, but I ain't into the jumping thing. I like trail rides, barrels, riding in the mountains.

Like flying with your best friend.
"barrels" is barrel racing. A blast! It started as a womens event in rodeos. Now it's very popular. You ride around a clover-leaf course as fast as you can, which is a good test of horse and rider.

Thanks Intimid8r. Turtle is a retired competitive team roping and cutting horse. Until last year he was owned by Joe, (in the second picture.) I had arranged to buy Turtle, but when I went to pick him up, Joe wouldn't accept any money. He handed me the lead and said "don't ruin him". Since Turtle and I are both a little older and a little slower, we're a good fit.
I live for round up. A few professional cowboys shown here get paid for the work, but Joe and I get paid in beer, brisket and the priveledge of being there.

Ringotuna, we have a cuttin horse too , he's a ball of muscles.
I wanted to tell you one of our colt's registered name is Ringo's Moon, their daddy is Ringo's Pistol. We call him boo, because we nick named his mama boo, boo, yeah it sounds kinda strange huh, I guess that was my doings. Her registered name is Moon's Princess. She is a Grey steal color with black spots all over, black stockings, tail and mane. Her colts are paints, Ringo's moon has one blue eye, has a medicene mask, they both are beautiful and good minded horses.
Those roundups are alot of fun , my husband knows of some that use to do those kind of deals where they have cattle drives, like they use to back in the day. They stay gone for a month at a time.
Horses will keep you young, and they watch out for you too.
Talking about stories-- I went riding one day after school, I saddled up and took off, well I got about a mile down the road and my horse kept stopping, I tried to get her to go and she wouldn't, well I preceeded to get off of her when the saddle came down with me, I hit hard. she was letting me know that the saddle was too lose, wasn't sinched tight enough. I was really grateful, because she knew after we got around the corner, we would haul it, (go fast). she was watchin' out for me.
What are some of ya'l stories? Come on we want to hear them all.

This was from somebody at a Toastmasters meeting.
The title of the talk was : Beware the smirking horse
When the guy was a teen, he went on a solo ride for the first time ever. They were supposed to follow an established trail. In the middle of the ride, the horse went off course and into a pond soaking the rider (water was at his waist).
He pulled the reins, yelled and finally the horse obeyed and left its bath. Well the rider was unhappy and directed the horse to go back at once (he was quite soaked) even though he had barely ridden down the trail.
After he arrived at the point of origin, an angry voice yelled "GET OFF THAT HORSE AT ONCE!"
The staff thought that he had ridden the horse to exhaustion and that the pond water was sweat. The rider was then ordered to dry off the horse. And all the while the horse was unconcerned and smirking.

American Saddlebred x Shagya. Perfect blend of temperament & build. If there were a Nobel prize for horses, he'd win.
Which is not to slight the 3 pure Saddlebreds in the photo (the brown ones) wonderful high-steppin' show horses.
Moe's a good boy too. He's the Quarter Horse in my bottom photo.
I love 'em all.
