I am planning a short trip to see Mammoth Cave, National Park (Kentucky) before April 13 (when I start classes to be a medical biller and coder).
I have the National Geographic guide book for all the national parks in the US and they have some info on the different tours throughout the cave complex (can't see the caves w/o being on a tour).
I was wondering if anybody had ever visited the caves and was it worth it? Also, which tour did you go on? Where did you stay overnight?
I think it would be neat to stay more than one day (there is hiking, horseback riding, and other things to do).
Any advice on specific things to do or (also important) things to avoid at all costs would be appreciated.

| I went on the Snowball tour last fall with my brother and sister-in-law. I stayed at their house, so I can't give any advice on hotels. We took the Snowball tour because I have a plate in my ankle and they have back problems. We enjoyed the tour, but take the longer one if you can. We were fine walking that tour but could've taken the longer one. There's a cafeteria down there near the restrooms. Enjoy your trip. We definitely want to go back.

Thx KidA and Andro! I had a great time. My mom and I went on the Grand Avenue tour which was very long (4.5 hours) but worth it. We ate lunch in the Snowball Cavern. In all, a great trip.
