BTW smoked horse meat sandwiches are great too.
You heard correctly Mr. zonnebloem. To be honest, in my years, travels. I've never seen horse meat on a restaurant menu, or market shelf in the US.
Do you know by any chance why not?

Can't say for sure zonnebloem. For me, sentiment maybe, the thought was just never appealing. I grew up owning, training, riding horses. It would seem to me, kinda like eating the family dog. Of course I've no objection to what others choose to eat. Might even give it a try someday.

Hey zonne - What does horse meat taste like?
I too love horses as animals. But just like my love of fish won't prevent me from eating fish, I see no reasons not to eat horses (or dogs)...etc.

Horse meat does taste not unlike beef, but a bit more sweet and tender. My mother would make it on Saturdays: sliced baked horse steak on bread.
Yummy.

I admit to having conspired to leaving the question open. . But no, a friend was out of town this week-end and I was feeding his roping horses for him.

| Well, I like the combination of ketchup and gravy as my dip on my McDonald's french fries!
