What happened Left Wing media?
I listened to Air America Radio yesterday, what a suck fest!
The hosts play tapes of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh all day, and debate them, thats how dull they are. If a caller argues, they go to pieces, what wimps!
I mean, if there was a better advertisement for conservative talking points, than Air America Radio, I don't know what it is.
All the TV/Radio media sucks, its all tabloid. HuffPo is just a marketing gimmick, they want to be tabloid muck and celebrities. I don't give a f- what Bono and George Clooney are doing, get it?
Rosanne Barr does Pacifica Radio at 5pm. She is convinced that the government is intentionally putting Prozac in the drinking water, and talks about the FEMA camps going up. She actually said Obama should be impeached for breaking his promises. Pacifica was plugging during pledge drive, Alex Jones video "the Obama Deception" which is total hogwash and speculation. It says Obama is just frontin' for old man whitey. Whatever.

Mathews and Cooper are good at coming across as left wing but they're usually about as politcally correct as the rest. Bill moyers and some of the other PBS folks are ok....and Tim Russert was fairly left wing wasn't he ? Not that punk who replaced him though.
But I get most of my commentator news from Bill Maher and Jon Stewart...
I miss the old 24/7 Headline News like it was back when Ted still
owned CNN.

First of all, the premise of this thread is ridiculous. There is no "left' in america, not since the 60s when there were groups of Yippees and radicals
What we have here is a republican far right and a democrat center right. Most progressives vote dem because it is the lesser of the two evils
Leftists are people who espouse complete socialism, communism or marxist leninism. if you've ever bothered to go to another country you will see those parties in coalition governments
the far right in America are dellusional reactionaries who think that the moderate dems are marxists. The repub party is made up of corporate owners at the top pulling the strings on the masses of ignorant morons who swallow their lies

I don't care for Rachel Maddow. It's just her persona and sense of humor I think. It seems a bit too much geared towards yuppies, in an overt and obvious way.

Pacifica Radio has good commentary entirely left wing, has some DC beltway guests on Sunday, but is mostly Progressive. I think the CIA runs it and you can get it on the Net or on the dial if you live in NY or CA.

Beware some Liberals are controlled opposition...
"THIS NEXT ITEM IS SURELY GOING TO OUTRAGE SOME WHO ARE NAIVE AND POORLY INFORMED:
4. Pacifica Radio, which like the Nation Magazine, has done SOME good, has been reportedly a CIA-Foundation operation, New York, Houston, and the Bay area, California. During the anti-war period, some rednecks, believing that Pacifica-Houston, was a genuine "liberal" group, purportedly bombed the station there. A simple, though certainly not complete answer, is that the stations were used as provocateur operations, to lure out more independent-minded political activists who are and were naive. For example, however, Pacifica, Berkeley, went almost into orbit when Dennis Bernstein of that station, without realizing I am an independent, was unable to stop me from blurting out condemnation of the oil industry and George Bush. Some of his confidants informed me he almost got run over by the station management for letting a "loud mouth" like me on the air. By the way, I call National Public Radio, NPR, as NATIONAL PETROLEUM RADIO, since they try to keep oil scandals OFF the air. A simple, though certainly not complete answer: for some years Sharon Percy ROCKEFELLER, WIFE OF U.S. Senator John D. Rockefeller 4th, headed NPR. [She now heads a PBS operation in D.C. instrumental in the Jim Lehrer News Hour on so-called Public TV.] No one in NPR, PBS, or for that matter, in the commercial oil-soaked mass media, would dare mention that the family of Sharon Percy Rockefeller is reportedly in business withthe CIA-created purported "terrorist" Osama bin Laden. Their joint funds are reportedly kept in the Harris Bank in Chicago, under many concealed accounts. Harris Bank is a unit of the whiskey-soaked Bronfman family, owners jointly with U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald of Ill., [R., Ill.] of the Bank of Montreal [Canada]. Bill Clinton said he would like to "freeze" bin Laden's huge funds but cannot "find" them. Really? "

Lawrence O'Donnell, who I'm convinced should have his own show on MSNBC.

Ed Schultz is good too. Yea Lawrence O'Donnel
This is from October, 2005 (but I think he's on AFR now....not sure)
Liberal radio talker Ed Schultz was eagerly anticipating his debut yesterday on Armed Forces Radio, which agreed last month to carry his program to nearly a million soldiers around the world.
But at 7 a.m., Schultz's producer got a call from Allison Barber, the Pentagon's deputy assistant secretary for internal communications, who said without explanation that the deal was off.
Perhaps, Schultz said in an interview, it was just a coincidence that he spent the end of last week chastising Barber for coaching a group of U.S. soldiers in Iraq before a teleconference with President Bush.
"It kind of floored us," Schultz said from his studio in North Dakota. "The fact is, they don't want dissenting voices or any other kind of speech unless it's going to be promotional for them. Obviously, these people are making sure they're not going to have any opinion other than the Rush Limbaughs of the world."

I agree Ed Schultz is good, we don't get him on the radio, and its too bad the military didn't allow his broadcast on Armed Forces. I think Limbaugh is a destructive force to be indoctrinating soldiers with. The military doesn't want programmed hate robots under their command do they?
Randi Rhodes isn't bad. She has quality information on the show.
Ron Reagan got off to a real slow start. Too mild and restrained, but has been a much improved radio show of late.
Thom Hartman is a bit too rapid fire. He jumps around too much from subject to subject. He doesn't allow himself to expand on the often very valid points of his callers. I think his show doesn't work because he doesn't allow topics to be explored thoroughly enough. Comes off as the expert too much, like your Granpa is indoctrinating you. Talks at you, not to you.
John Stewart is tired, he needs to do another gig. Its really an old act now. Colbert is embarrassingly bad.
Maddow and Olberman are lousy and unwatchable.

I totally love Jon Stewart, he gets it right on the mark. We need more people like him to keep pointing out the lies that Faux News makes.
I also really like Bill Maher. He has the most interesting discussions on television. I continue to subscribe to HBO only because of him.
