I am considering contract work in St. Croix but I keep reading about the "uninvited" creatures that frequently inhabit one's home (spiders, rats, centipedes, frogs, etc.)  This is the deal breaker for me because I couldn't sleep at night knowing there are creepy crawlies lurking in or around my bed.  Please comment with the ugly truth before I commit to this. Thanks!

I think mosquitoes, ants and little lizards are more likely co-inhabitants, all controllable unless you're in a house with no window screens.  Not a whole lot different than southern Florida.  The lizards are actually considered natural bug control.  Good news, no snakes.  The climate is tropical, so along with the beauty there's a bit of the year round bugginess that goes with it.  (BTW I moved to St Thomas from Norfolk VA.)
