On Tuesday,  the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works starts a debate on its version of legislation designed to address the climate change problem. A similar bill passed in the House by a very narrow margin and there is serious question whether the bill will pass in the Senate as Blue Dog Democrats are not jumping up and down to back the bill. Only one Republican has committed his support of the legislation, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. Yet, thus far he seems to be the only member of the GOP willing to actually stop marching in lockstep, at least on this and a couple of other issues.

This could possibly result in legislation that would require corporations to absorb some of the cost of their own pollution, and to actually invest in measures to curtail such pollution with money that would otherwise have gone to line the pockets of their stockholders.

Their step-and-fetch-it Republican sycophants are beside themselves with fear (and greed).

What number 'Oh, no you don't' tantrum is this for the Republicans this session so far? 100? 1,000?

Climate change? Ha, what a joke. Let the Bamster go ahead with his job killing, Cap & Tax scheme. Let the American people hear how he plans to implement a massive tax on energy to cure the Earth's imaginary faaeeeever. That should about seal the deal for the GOP in 2010. If Obama can make as big a mess out of climate change as he has healthcare all the GOP has to do is sit back and watch the implosion. I think moderate dems got the message last Tuesday, I don't think Obama is bright enough to figure it out.

Climate change is a fact, not a debate. Only a fool argues that 'climate change is a joke'.

The contention is the degree to which man in contributing to it.

My climate hasn't changed, has yours? I'll leave it to Obama to tell the American people he is going to tax them to death to save the polar ice caps. That should just about put the democrat party into retirement.

I'll just sit back and let Obama and the dems sell their massive Tax & Cap scheme to the already hurting American people. I'm sure they'll see the benefits of massive new taxes to keep their houses warm.

Here we are in the middle of global cooling trend but the Libs want to keep pushing their hoax on us all.  Yes, climate change is a reality, but man's impact is next to nothing.  The Obama administration ought to take it up with the sun, not our cars and electric plants.

That's about the dimmest reason I've ever seen for opposing cap and trade. Unfortunately, I think it's quite common among wingnuts. If something can't be explained in high school drop-out terms, it's beyond them.

They're still waaaay behind the Democrat's tantrum record for the previous two terms.  No way will they ever catch up with that number.

How about you give a glowing reason TO support it then?

So they can charge fees and taxes to companies who produce emissions and waste?  And then what are they going to do with that money to "fix" a problem they can't even prove exists?  Send money to Mother Nature and hope she'll pick up the supplies for a rebalance-the-environment ritual?

Carbon credits?  What a friggin' scam.  And you want to insult people's intelligence while you're buying into the con game?  Heh.

Well, yeah. But they've only had 9 months compared to 8 years, and I suspect they're just getting warmed up.

As the desperation builds, so will the number and level of snit fits.

Industry doesn't want to pay for it's own pollution, so it figures the taxpayers can be fooled into paying for it.

Maybe not the Dems, but for sure the naive and easily propagandized Republicans will believe industry's slick Madison Avenue baloney every time.

Republicans are for tax supported (socialized) capitalism.

OK.

If we don't fix the climate, we'll all die choking in a world-wide sauna filled with toxic gases.

There you go.

Emissions trading is a free-market solution to the pollution problem. It creates incentives to clean-up emissions released into the atmosphere. While some companies may face higher costs, others will make money selling their carbon credits. This a capitalist's dream. They can make an investment in clean air and then sell it.

So your climate hasn't changed? Thought so. Nothing more than another liberal scheme to steal what doesn't belong to them to use for something that won't benefit anyone. To libs it's job security, to working families it's a hoax and a scam.

Go away thief, we don't want any.

its a democratic legislator free-market solution to line their pockets.  That is all it is.

Go research your top dems and see where their investing is.  And at the high cost of everyone else.
