Days before a health bill is expected to pass the House, Republicans rallied their flock with the help of Fox News, Michele Bachmann and leading conservative groups.
Thousands of right-wingers rallied yesterday on the lawn on the U.S. Capitol building to hear a parade of Republican lawmakers warn them of an alleged threat to their freedom embedded in the secret channels of the health care reform bill unveiled last week by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. Lawmakers expect to vote on the bill Saturday.

Are you kidding?
Republicans suffer from Global Obstruction Pathology. GOP doesn't identify specific items of concern. It demands opposition to every idea it didn't conceive.

Let's start with the single best reason to urinate all over this legislation....
...Americans who refuse to submit to government orders will, without question, face penalties of up to $250,000 fines and up to 5 years in prison for CHOOSING not to purchase Madame Pelosi's cheapest available plan at $15,000 premiums per year as of 2016.
I guess that's one way to put the people on their knees at your feet. Give them the choice of paying $15,000 premiums for health care, or $250,000 fines and 5 years in prison. Obedience will come easier for the peasants that way.
H.R. 3962 Kick-Off Party at Pelosi's House...

The relevant passages have already been reproduced and discussed in another thread, invalidating your hysterical accusations - as you well know.
Why can't you right wing radicals at least try to be honest once in a while, hmmm?

H.R. 3962 Kick-Off Party at Pelosi's House...

Hard to beat that post for most disinformation per square inch.
See this thread for some information on the $250K and 5 year hysteria, and this thread for an exposing of Boehner's claims that the House bill will automatically make abortions eligible for Public Option coverage, and that federal funding of abortion will be at the whim of a bureaucrat.
Then come on back and let's discuss.
Or reply on those. I look forward to your thoughts.

Sorry, but I'm going to go ahead and take the word of the experts. From the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation:
“H.R. 3962 provides that an individual (or a husband and wife in the case of a joint return) who does not, at any time during the taxable year, maintain acceptable health insurance coverage for himself or herself and each of his or her qualifying children is subject to an additional tax.”
“If the government determines that the taxpayer’s unpaid tax liability results from willful behavior, the following penalties could apply…”
“Criminal penalties
Prosecution is authorized under the Code for a variety of offenses. Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:
• Section 7203 – misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.
• Section 7201 – felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.”
In the previous Senate Finance Committee version of health care reform this controversy came up and they removed the language that threatened Americans in this way. Pelosi refused to remove the threatening language from her version and it's going to the floor that way.
Since the abortion issue is currently in rapid flux, we'll have to wait and see how it plays out. Personally, I don't think the singular details are going to matter in the end. The bill is going to die.

If you read my linked thread, I have done the copying and pasting of the referenced material. There is more to it than meets the committee's eye (or than they divulge above).
God forbid you should want to do your own research rather than take someone else's word. Certainly before posting it as fact yourself. Oh, well; another seemingly rational person exposed as not.
And here I though you didn't trust politicians.

I'm going to take issue with your response. I have read every single health care reform legislation (yes, thousands and thousands of pages - literally) - up to this version. I have not taken the time to read Pelosi's 2000+ page version (yet). I may or may not - since they're attempting to cram it through for a vote today. I always do my own research, I almost never take the word of anyone or any committee without verifying the information myself. But, in this case, I'm burned out on bad health care reform legislation and I don't really care what new putrid piece of oppression that Pelosi came up with - I know it's an insult to Americans, and I hope it dies a painful death.
Regardless of whatever "justifications" or spin you may have posted, the fact remains that the legislation provide the government the option to criminally penalize free citizens for their personal health care choices. Regardless of whether they "might not", or whatever flowery arguments they make about why it's not really a threat - it is still there, it is still an option and, just by being included, it is still a disgusting mouthful of spit lobbed at the concept of freedom.

The big problem libs have is that they have been caught in soooo many lies, they admitted they have not read their own work, the people have no trust in them. At this point it really doesn't matter what is in the bill, they have lost what little cred. they had.....
This steaming pile of crap as it stands will never become law, Mr "I won" Obama has wasted his best year on this garbage.
An entire year of waste and failures,,,,,,
