Ok, it was 96 hours before Christmas and we had just 4 more gifts to buy for our shopping to be finished. I glanced at my wife who came over and gave me a kiss and a glass of whine. I knew there was trouble. However, we just got done with painting the house and its winter so the lawn did not need to be mowed. My spider senses were tingling I knew something was up and boy was I right. She mentions that her friend at work was having a shower and men were invited. I asked the question "Why?". That seemed to be the wrong question because I got the frown (married men know this well). I told her is there any way or anything I could do besides go to the shower. She said fine if you do not want to go, we still have shopping left you could finish. Doh, Shopping or Shower I was trapped. Well I decided I would do the shopping it seemed much less painful. So I decided that I would make a day of it and told my wife I would get an early start. So I set my alarm for 8 am. Well the alarm rang and I was up and ready to go. Well I was heading for the door when my wife questioned my foot gear. She wanted to know why I had on my golf spikes. I got the frown again and tried to explain but it was a loosing battle. So I arrive at the mall a little early and decide just to stroll around some when I see this most excellent train display being setup. It was awesome (Valco Mall San Jose). It was so nifty that I call my brother and ask if my nephew is free I got something really neat to show him. So I go pickup my nephew and have some coffee with my brother. We arrive at the mall about 12.30. He was thrilled with the trains the people running this display let us pick different engines and cars to run on the track. It was really great fun and we had all of fun. About 2.30 we decided some lunch would be good. So we ate some really excellent pho and had fun looking at all the people shopping. So we start looking around the mall and went down stairs to the ice rink. Well it is the Christmas Season so it seemed like a little ice-skating would be appropriate. It was a blast though it had been years and I fell ton and was a little sore. So we decided to get back to shopping it was about 5.30 and I get a call from my wife. It seemed that she was done with her shower and talked to my brother. Seems he mentioned that we were at Valco. What I did not know is that the shower was in San Jose and that she was currently at the mall. Well we walked to meet her and I tried to look presentable and not like I just came off the ice. She sees us walking toward her and she just smiles and in a skipping motion hugs me and gives me a affectionate peck on the cheek. This was the last thing I expected and had some really good reasons why we had not gotten anything yet. But she did not ever ask or mention it we just shopped and held hands like teenagers. I truly do not understand women. Still after five years they are a mystery. P.S. It took us like and hour to get the 4 gifts to finish our shopping. |
