| We're going over Christmas. Hoping to "swim with the dolphins" Anything like that there? Big festivities for Christmas?

Hi Valerie
Sorry, but nothing like that in Mazatlan! Just regular fiestas in Mazatlan. Mexicans celebrate mostly on Christmas Eve.

It won't be easy to ride a dolphin. The dolphins do a fair amount of "body surfing" when the surf gets big. But this happens mostly way north of town at surfing areas like Patoles, where the waves break way outside.
As you might expect, there are no territorial disputes with the surfers. They understand completely what we are up to. And they too, like to "screw around" out there, and sometimes get very close to the surfers. The only difference is - they prefer to surf further outside where they can avoid the bottom, and do it mostly, when the surf gets really huge.
Preferring the deeper water, they are also able to do quick surveys for schools of fish, by using the free ride. The dolphins tend to treat the surfers with indifference if they attempt to socialize with them, but they undoubtably watch the surfers jump off their boats to go surfing, and are then able to hear us yelling for waves and conversing with each other out there.

| The weather around Christmas can go either way. It can be warm, or it can be cooler, and breezy.
