| I am the granddaughter of Lithuanian immigrants. The background about them is very vague. 2 areas I beg assistance in. My grandmother was born in Petriciu, Lithuania in 1890. I cannot find that city, even on old maps. The name of the town was written down as my grandfather spoke it, so in the translation it must have been spelled incorrect. I no longer speak the language, Does this English phonetically misspelled word of her birth place sound in Lithuanian like anyplace anyone knows about. and 2- my grandfather was highly educated, his brother was a priest, his education seems unusual for the early 1900's in Lithuania, so I have been told. Does anyone know how I can find records of his brother? The church in America has not been helpful. My grandparents met in America, but they always said they grew up in neighboring towns, so If I could find the name of the town or the name of the church this may open the doors for me. thank you,

| No I am not Russian. Perhaps my mother was infuenced by the place and time she lived prior to coming to America. I recently discovered that her last place of residence their was then called Jenapol, which at that time was ruled by Imerial Russia. Today it is posted on maps as Jempol or Yampil and is located in southern Ukraine. I also did locate her birth city. It was once a territory of Lithuania on 1849 maps, but today it is called Piotrkow and is located in Poland, south of Warszwa. She was born in 1890 and from what I have gathered people move about the area quite often to avoid vaious misery. I am sure that is why the quest for information on her and my grandfathers lives while there, and on any possible family still remaining has been difficult. Thank you for your question and any others you may have.
