Seeking ancestory. Grandfather - Theophilus (Teofil) Lesauskis - Lithuanian. Arrived in Ny, American 1913 at 19 yrs of age. He was highly educated and could read, write and translated in 7 different languages. My search has reveiled that this was not common. He was Catholic, although I recently discovered through my research that the church at this time did not encourage higher education and definetly not various language skills. There was a break from Rome which developed the OLD CATHOLIC CHURCH, they did believe in science, history, modernism and higher education, but they only started around 30 years before grandpa was borm. Could they have had that type of education developed by the late 1800's and if so where? If any Lithuanians here also have had or know of relatives that came to America at around that time with that advanced educational level would you please let me know. Was it at the church, a monestary, private school? I am not only hitting a brick wall on his past it is raising a lot of questions to his true identity.PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN.
sincere and heartfelt thanks,

| I was in Kvedarna. father of my grandmother Antanas had brother Jonas (john in English) and he had wife Zofia(sophie). Thay had a son and 3 douthers- I am not sure 2 or3. But thay lived in Antupalis - it is near Kvedarna. so Theofilus can be cousin of my grandmother. Jonas-John was born 1864 and dided 1939 and Sophie 1871 -1953. In Kvedarna was the nearste church. Jonas and Antanas had two Brothers - Juzopas (?-1960?)he was prister in catholic church and Jurgis(1858-1939)- his son stayed in Antupalis. Is this your family too

I feel you are all lucky in that you know something about your family.
Unfortunately I do not other than my grandparents left Europe on the last ship bound for the UK.
My father Vincent Kulvinskus was born in 1915 his mother and father I know nothing about.
Any information or suggestions on how I and my siblings can learn about them is greatly appreciated.
